  • World

The stage is set for the grand finals [VIDEO]of #Miss World 2017 which will be held at Sanya [VIDEO] City Arena in China on November 18. Prior to the coronation night, the ladies who made it through the #Top 40 finalists have been announced such as the delegate from India, Times Now reported.

On the leader board are candidates from Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Italy, Macau, and the Philippines. Also joining them in the Top 40 are the delegates from Vietnam, Peru, Nepal, Nigeria, Mongolia, and France.

This is the first time that pageant organizers made an early announcement of the finalists prior to the coronation night.

It is because of the pageant’s new format known as “Head-To-Head Challenge” that featured groups of candidates in a question-and-answer round that tackled some of the world’s most pertinent issues.

Furthermore, contestants from Bangladesh, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Liberia, Malta, Mexico, and Moldova also secured a spot in the semi-finals. Some of these ladies were already announced a few days ago as winners of the fast track challenges.

    Fast track challenge winners
Miss World is an international beauty tilt that tests not only the physical beauty, poise and intelligence of the ladies but also their endurance. One of the fast track challenges was a sports competition that grouped the girls into several teams.

Dominican Republic’s Aletxa Mueses won against the other contestants in this round and secured a spot into the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Cook Islands’ representative was declared first runner-up and British Virgin Island’s delegate won as second runner-up.

A fashion competition was also held which featured the candidates in their evening gown as they walked in a runway show. Nigeria’s Ugochi Ihezue won this challenge and automatically made it through the semi-finals.

The winner of the talent portion was Malta’s Michela Galea, while Mongolia’s Enkhjin Tseveendash was declared the winner of the multimedia challenge. Apart from these, there were also other major fast track events such as the Head-To-Head challenge and the “Beauty With A Purpose” award.

    Coronation night
Just as the announcement was posted on social media, fans of these ladies rejoiced when they saw the names of their favorites. One in particular is Philippines’ bet Laura Lehmann whose fans almost gave up voting for her because of her low winning odds.

During the pre-pageant activities, Lehmann was trailing behind other delegates since she had not yet won any fast track challenge. But the night before the finals, she was announced as part of the Top 40 finalists and was also declared as Top 5 in the Beauty With A Purpose event.

She is slated to share her advocacy during the coronation night which will be aired in various television networks. Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle will crown her successor. #Grand Finals
