Besiktas defender Pepe has admitted that he would like to be reunited with former Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s current £365,000-a-week contract doesn’t expire until 2021, but it is far from certain the 32-year-old will remain at Real for the duration.
Pepe was used in an inventive comic strip Twitter stunt in which he asked Alvaro Negredo to join him in Turkey, and he is hoping to work his charm again.
The veteran centre-back told CNN: “If I could choose and if it were possible, of course I would like for Cristiano to come here. He’s a person for whom I have maximum respect.”
Since arriving in Turkey, Pepe has regularly praised his new club’s fans, drawing some protest from supporters back in Madrid.
