Man Utd striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could yet help Romelu Lukaku by playing as a No.10 when he returns from injury.
Shirt numbers and merchandise sales are big business, but there is often a noble reason behind footballers' selections.
Romelu Lukaku used to wear the No.10 shirt because his beloved mother's birthday is on October 10, but he immediately felt ready to step up and be the main man after he completed his big-money move to Manchester United in July.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had technically left the No.9 shirt behind, after being released by the club, but Lukaku knew that would not be the end of it as the Swede's remarkable recovery gathered pace.
So Lukaku made the call and Ibrahimovic, who was given Anthony Martial's cherished No.9 shirt when he joined United, was only too happy to oblige.
In fact, the Swede soon got what he wanted after rejoining the club in the final week of the window: becoming United's No.10 following skipper Wayne Rooney's exit.
And the No.10 shirt is more than just a number to Ibrahimovic - it is the shirt he has coveted since leaving boyhood club Malmo in 2001.
But, he has always found club royalty in his way: Rafael van der Vaart, Alessandro Del Piero, Lionel Messi, Clarence Seedorf and, of course, Rooney.
It was only when Adriano and Nene left Inter Milan and PSG respectively that Ibrahimovic finally got his chance. Such was the furore in Paris, when he changed mid-season, UEFA forced Ibrahimovic to wear his original No.18 shirt in the Champions League.
Those supporters left with out of date shirts were soon compensated, on the field at least, with Ibrahimovic firing PSG to 12 trophies in four glorious seasons after scoring a whopping 156 goals.
