Like a king, US Rapper Kendrick Lamar was the biggest winner of the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home six awards on a night full of emotional performances and political moments.
The rapper, who opened the show with a message about police brutality, had his “Humble” given the video of the year, best hip-hop video, direction, cinematography, art direction and visual effects on Sunday at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
Taylor Swift failed to appear at the event, but debuted her comeback music video for “Look What You Made Me Do”, while Ed Sheeran took home the award for Artist of the Year, the first time male and female artists went head-to-head in a category.
Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto paid tribute to vocalists Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell who both took their own lives earlier this year.
