Billionaire is Teni’s attempt at wishful thinking. She tries to put herself in her listener’s shoes, attempting to imagine from their own side, how they see life and how badly they want to be great in life.
The context is the same method Burna Boytried in Dangote and Olamide pulled the same trick on Oil and Gas.
While it has worked for both artistes as the singles reigned in the mainstream for a period, Teni’s “Billionaire” looks to be missing something.
The down tempo by Pheelz helps Teni settle down in, but there’s a discordance betweenTeni‘s lyrics and the rhythm. The tempo is best good for RnB and Alte vibes but attempting to transform it into an Afro beat is a poor attempt by the Case crooner.
What’s Wrong With Teni This Year?
Teni might be bagging sponsorship deals back to back, but she has failed to score a hit so far this year.
Her popularity last year was hinged on the quality of the singles she churned out.Askamaya, Case and Uyo Meyo were tricks that brought in Magic for Teni and it was based on that, she’s getting the endorsement deals and also the award nominations.
Perhaps, people are just tired of the same repetitive sound tempo and melody she has harnessed over the years.
